When Baby Girl heard that Mr. Smith was moving his office into the room at the top of the stairs, she wasted no time applying for a job of her own.
Little did we know our kitty had such aspirations!
I mean, she’s talked about going to Cat College for ages, but her parents aren’t ready to send her out into the world just yet.
Thankfully, nearly all feline job positions are work-from-home which allowed Baby Girl to land a sweet position as “Nocturnal Analyst” with the Maiow Clinic.
Would you like to see her application?
“No tears or rips in the ears” is a big plus with the Maiow Clinic since the organization is an upstanding research center that focuses on the health and well-being of felines. They can’t be hiring alley cats with torn ears, for crying out loud!
The minute she was hired, Baby Girl set up her workspace in the northern window of the upper room.
Eager to show her level of professionalism, she even splurged on this designer briefcase (in her favorite color, of course).
Other than a lint brush and fish-flavored breath mints, I’m not sure what all this working girl keeps in her briefcase. A picture of mom and dad, I hope.
So what exactly does a “Nocturnal Analyst” do?
(The joke around the Clinic is that they tend to sleep on the job a lot. MOL!)
From what I’ve gathered, the Maiow Clinic wants to know how much sleep cats really need and how they function on the sleep they get. If their species is able to function on less sleep, then these extra hours can be put towards more important causes. My guess is WORLD DOMINATION, but Baby Girl refuses to tell me anything about her work.
I did, however, manage to sneak this off of Baby Girl’s desk the other day:
Yes, I’d say that our cat daughter is a diligent employee who is eager to impress the top cats at the Clinic. She gets up early every morning and waits for Mr. Smith to open the door to her office. From there, she races to her window sill and immediately starts napping. Most days, she will sleep right on through lunchtime. She’s even been going in on the weekends! It seems like every time that office door is open, Baby Girl is on the job. And all her former favorite napping spots? Well! I guess they will have to wait.
I’ve never seen my cat so motivated.
To be honest, I’m not sure how long this whole job-thing will last. At this rate, our working girl is bound to burn herself out by the end of the summer.
Either that, or she’ll get a promotion.
In the meantime, at least she’s staying out of trouble I guess.
If your cat had a job, what would it be?
I’m thinking of getting Baby Girl this poster for her office:
