10 Last-Minute Gift Ideas Under $30
I first experienced the miracle of this gadget on my October visit to the Bordon winery in Slovenia. Our guide, Moitza, used an aerator to pour our red wines. Genius!
Gift #2: Green Bulk Sun-Dried Tomatoes
YOU NEED THESE IN YOUR LIFE!! Another eye-opening experience I gained from my Italian adventure this fall was how a TRUE sun-dried tomato should taste! I’d eaten the flavorless, rubbery $2 bags of sun-dried tomatoes and figured that’s how they were supposed to taste.
Bulk sun-dried tomatoes taste frikin’ amazing! Your tastebuds will explode in salty/tomatoey goodness with just one nibble, and you will kick yourself for only buying a pound of them at the Italian market. My favorite way to use these are diced up in pasta dishes, roasts and stews.
Gift #3: Trufflehunter Truffle Oil Selection
Ok, one last mention about that Italy trip: THE TRUFFLES!! Drizzle this truffle oil over creamy pasta, a crispy hasselback potato or even an omelet. It will add aroma and decadence to any dish. Such a treat!
I’m seriously swooning over these Pyrex mixing bowls. I’m also convinced that my desserts will turn out prettier if I mix them up in these dishes. If anything, my kitchen will look prettier. 🙂
Gift #5: Copper Wall Double File Folder
How is it that mail and other random papers always collect on kitchen counters? Reduce the counter clutter with this sleek, industrial wall file folder. Bonus use? This would make a handy nook to store lids!
Gift #6: Takeya Cold Brew Iced Coffee Maker
I recently saw someone use an old sheer stocking as a teabag to prepare cold brew coffee. Genius idea in a pinch, but very messy. Skip the pantyhose and enjoy your less-acidic cold brew coffee the convenient, not-so-footy way.
Why settle for a scratchy burlap table runner when you can have an entire tablecloth made of soft, cotton burlap? Beautiful and versatile for every season and holiday! Want. So. Much.
Why haven’t I gotten one of these gadgets yet? There really is no excuse since every single dish of veggie noodles I see on Instagram makes me drool.
Gift #9: Wonder Woman Apron
Even if you don’t like to cook, there’s a good chance you’ve wanted to be or know Wonder Woman. Here’s your opportunity!
Gift #10: Homemade: Finnish Rye, Feed Sack Fashion, and Other Simple Ingredients from My Life in Food by Beatrice Ojakangas
Speaking of wonder women, Beatrice Ojakangas is not only an authority on baking, but has an incredible spirit that has saw her through many foodie adventures. I was recently asked to review her latest book, Homemade and was blown away at the accomplishments and tenacity of this woman. Several years ago, Mr. Smith purchased Beatrice’s Great Holiday Baking for me where I found my favorite recipe for pumpkin bread. Buy Homemade and get ready to be inspired, grateful and hungry!
Happy giving and Merry Christmas!
