What’s the antidote for a hectic day? A porch swing!
Nothing like easing into our front porch swing and rocking away the stress and chaos of the day. It’s one of my favorite simple pleasures. As a way to ease into summer, I decided to throw a porch party to celebrate warm weather, simple pleasures and the lost art of porching.
Here’s how you can thrown your own easy-breezy porch party!
Tip #1: Plan an easy menu
The beauty of a porch party is its simplicity. This means no scurrying about the kitchen or even turning on the oven.
One of my favorite crowd-pleasing meals to serve when I don’t want to life a finger is the Coca-Cola and Pizza Combo at Sam’s Club. For just $13.98 you get:
- 16-Inch Pizza (your choice of toppings)
- Cheesy Breadsticks
- (1) 2 L of Coca-Cola
Members can order and pick up the family pizza combo at the cafe located inside Sam’s Club. Sometimes, I even put in my order, go get my shopping done and then pick up the bundle on the way out.
NOTE: If you’re picking up your family pizza combo anytime past 5, I highly suggest you call ahead!
I’ve purchased the family combo several times and found it feeds 6 people perfectly with a few nibbles left over.
When was the last time you spent less that $14 for a dinner party?? This is one of the many reasons I’m a Sam’s Club Member.
Tip #2: Use simple, colorful decor
My favorite items include:
- Cloth napkins (Because they don’t blow away!)
- Sturdy, reusable plastic plates in bright colors
- Red-checkered tablecloths (They provide instant pizzazz.)
- Old tree stumps (for extra seating and side tables)
Tip #3: Skip the table
Don’t worry about hunting down a card table. Your lap is the table at a porch party! All you have to do is throw a blanket on the floor, put out some folding chairs and pull up a porch swing.
A bonus? Porch steps also count as seating. 🙂
Tip #4: Be a kid again with dessert
Since porch parties are all about fun, I decided to serve my 2-liter of Coca-Coca for dessert in the form of an ice cream float!
What better way to enjoy the simple things in life than sipping a fizzy float through a pretty paper straw while swinging on a porch swing?
Not a float kinda person?
Then how about a chocolate-chip cookie ice-cream sandwich?
Tip #5: Don’t forget music!
Create a warm, inviting atmosphere with some classic records. Bring the radio outside or let it play softly through a nearby open window.
While you’re at it, bust out the card deck, dominoes or even a puzzle.
Here’s to getting together with the people we love without all the hassle we hate!
What are your favorite summer get-togethers?
Got a crowd coming in for Mother’s Day or graduation? Not sure what to feed your pool party guests? Looking to host your friends but don’t want the hassle of meal planning?
Then pick up a Coca-Cola and Pizza Combo from Sam’s Club!
