Hurray for October!!!! We started off this fall right with some pumpkin picking in Maine, and I haven’t been able to shut up about the festive experience since. A little fact about Mrs. Smith: Fall = Christmas!!
On our recent trip to Portland, Maine, we visited Snell Family Farm, a pick-your-own farm in Buxton, Maine (which is just outside of Portland).
There we discovered the most sincerest of pumpkin patches. Does this view make you giddy, too?
Pumpkin picking is difficult when there are so many different varieties to choose from! Nothing beats classic orange, but I went cuckoo for the blue and white ones.
What do you call a crate full of pumpkins?
A good start.
(Or something like that.)
And you thought pumpkins weren’t romantic!
Have you ever purchased a “pie pumpkin” with the full intention of turning it into a pie, but never had the guts to cut into it because it was just so cute?
I completely understand. I packed a pie pumpkin in my suitcase and may never bake it.
Edible? No idea.
Who is this?
Orange and black gourd at four o’clock.
Snell Family Farms also has a pick-your-own apple orchard which we had BUSHELS of fun at. I still can’t decide what I enjoyed more: picking the apples or cooking homemade apple butter.
This truly is the merriest time of year.
Happy October and pumpkin picking, everybody!
Now go jump in a pile of leaves.
(And I mean that in the most sincerest of ways.)
