Humans do neat stuff and we all have different ways of doing it.
Recently, a good bloggy friend invited me to join in the Blog Hop Around the World where bloggers share their creative process.
So if you need a creative boost today or just need something to read while you drink your coffee, here’s how and why I do what I do and who inspires me. 🙂
How does my creative process work?
My creative process starts with a want.
And that want usually leads to the discovery that what I want is too expensive to purchase or to hire out.
But that don’t keep me from wantin’ what I want!
So it’s at this point that I usually rip open a bag of mortar or pull out my sewing machine and create the durn thing mahself.
How does my work differ from others of its genre?
Since it’s Monday, I’m gonna be honest with you:
I’m not very creative.
Most of the time, I feel that my creativity is broken. Like my brain is up there searching, twisting, squeezing in the hopes of producing an innovative idea. But that idea rarely comes.
As much as I want them, I don’t have original ideas. I just see something and try to reproduce it. You could say that my creations are “mediocre copies of another man’s genius.”
I’m just like other bloggers in my genre….with the exception of one thing: my stories. No one else on the internet lives in my foreclosure with my yard full of sticker burrs. Nor does anyone else own my two squirrely cats. No other blogger grew up thinking that all humans were crawdads in another life. No one has my particular family full of particular individuals.
Family, stories. These are the things that set us apart.
What am I presently working on?
- Keeping my tomatoes alive
- Figuring out how all these ants got in my house
- Keeping cool without any central A/C
- Figuring out little ways to grow and improve my blog and my business
- Deciding what to do with this neat-o gift from a friend:
Why do I create what I do?
I sew, cook, garden and build (and have rough-looking hands as a result) because:
-That’s what my Momma and Grandma and Grandma’s mama and her mama before her did
-DIY means I’m NB (never bored)
-I’m always in need of a lovely space to cozy up in and a good meal to dig into
Who inspires me to create?
Whenever I hit a wall, all I have to do is visit these three amazing bloggy friends and my fire is rekindled. Their overwhelming amount of creativity keeps me striving to put forth my very best:
If I could sum this blog up in one word, it would be: WHIMSICAL. Not only is Kelly one of the most creative bloggers I’ve met, she is also the most generous, upbeat, encouraging, unique individual I’ve met through blogging hands-down! She thoughtfully takes the time to read and comment on posts and that’s really saying something in this skim-through-the-pictures society. She is also a scrapbooker extraordinaire so scrapbookers take note! Kelly lives in Canada in her new house with her husband and two kitties, Petals and Blossum.
My jaw drops every time I read this blog. KariAnne has such an eye for design that I almost want to start from scratch and make my house look exactly like hers. The owner of a farmhouse, KariAnne can take a simple item such as a silver spoon or a strip of burlap and turn it into something unique and amazing. It’s rather unfair, actually. 😉 If you’re looking to go crazy on Pinterest, just visit this site!
Do you dream of a place where the local farmer’s market is brimming with vibrant produce and fresh bread? Do you long for a land rolling with vineyards and rich history; long for an invitation to a fabulous dinner party full of good food and friends? The daily life captured in Stephane’s photography will make you want to hop on a plane to Bordeaux today!! I plan on making it to this heaven someday, come hell or high water. But for now, I’ll just lose myself in Stephane’s stories and recipes.
(P.S. Happy French Independence Day, Stephane!)
Thanks for being awesome and stopping by today!
