It’s been a while since I’ve had you all over so c’mon inside! Let’s take a look at a space that needs some TLC, and perhaps I can get some of your input when we’re done. 🙂
In our home are two staircases.
Dis big one:
And dis little one:
At the top of dis little one sits an odd but fabulous room we call “The Upper Room.”
Lately, I’ve renamed this space “The Last Stronghold” because it’s where we’ve stashed all our crap while we’ve fixed up the rest of the house.
But still, the room is fabulous!
With 6-foot ceilings and three cozy window seats, it’s the perfect place to curl up with a book or just curl up in general.
This room also has three closets which means gads of storage space. However, I don’t like to keep much stuff and would rather turn these deep, slanted-ceiling closets into cute little nooks of their own.
Before we moved in, this room was bright orange and covered in Texas Longhorns ephemera. I don’t know what possessed me, but I chose a deep maroon for the accent walls even though it didn’t match the color scheme of the rest of the house.
I guess at the time I thought anything was better than bright orange.
But Mr. Smith, being the Crimson Tide fan that he is, was fond of the maroon, and since this will be the future home of his sophisticated office/man cave, maroon this room shall stay.
Due to the odd angles and areas of slanted ceiling, furnishing this room will be a little challenging.
(Almost as challenging as taking a selfie with a regular camera.)
We will definitely need to choose pieces that are light and slender so that they can make it up da big staircase. On the checklist of things we need are:
- a long desk
- a small sofa
- a few small bookcases
- a small coffee table
- anything else that is small
So there’s my mini tour of The Upper Room.
Any ideas on how you would decorate it?
If you were to paint this room, what color would YOU choose?
Thanks for stopping by today!
